Position Title: Parish Receptionist and Greeter at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Parish

Employment Type: Part-time employee

Hours: Approximately 12-16 hours per week

 

Position Summary

The Parish Receptionist and Greeter supports the daily operation of the parish office and serves as a welcoming and professional point of contact for parishioners and visitors. The position combines basic administrative duties with hospitality and requires discretion, reliability, and respect for the pastoral mission and liturgical life of the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

 

Key Responsibilities

Parish Office

  • Answer incoming telephone calls, take messages, and route inquiries appropriately.
  • Welcome parishioners and visitors during office hours in a courteous and pastoral manner.
  • Support to the Pastor as required which may include maintaining a basic parish filing system (paper and electronic), and performing standard office tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and document preparation.
  • Collect announcements and notices from clergy and parish organizations.
  • Prepare and format the weekly parish bulletin (print and electronic) under the direction of the parish priest; some graphic layout skill is required.
  • Coordinate printing and distribution as required.

Greeter and Hospitality Duties

  • Serve as a first point of contact for parishioners and visitors arriving at the parish office.
  • Provide basic information regarding parish schedules, services, and activities.
  • Refer to hall rental manager for rental inquiries.
  • Maintain an orderly and welcoming office and reception area.

General Duties

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding parishioners and pastoral matters.
  • Support parish communications and special parish activities as requested, within scheduled hours.
  • Duties as assigned by the Pastor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (word processing, email, simple document formatting, some graphic layout).
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in an office, parish, or non-profit environment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with parish life and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and reliably with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English is necessary; these same abilities in Ukrainian would be an asset.

Screening

Due to the nature of the position, the Safe Environment Policies of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg will be applicable.

 

Remuneration

$21.00 per hour
